After inheriting her childhood 1954 daylight rambler, the homeowner returned with plans to remodel, focusing first on the front porch and exterior. Inspired by a Tudor reface but guided toward a more neighborhood-appropriate craftsman style, she transformed the home’s flat façade—once marked by aluminum windows, blue siding, and a simple entry—into a warm, inviting exterior. An 8’x12’ covered porch with tapered columns, Cultured Stone accents, cedar shake and horizontal siding, a new roof, and a fir soffit with exposed beam brought architectural character. Craftsman-style doors, paneled garage doors, and gridded vinyl windows completed the dramatic shift from dated to timeless.
