Bridle Trails Kitchen

Originally built in 1960, this dark, cramped kitchen, with its aluminum windows, dated fixtures, and cave-like interior, left the owners feeling uninspired despite their love of cooking and entertaining. Their vision for a light-filled, warm, and welcoming space led to a transformative remodel: walls were removed to open up the layout, two feet were borrowed from adjacent rooms, and the nook and kitchen were merged to create a larger footprint. A fir-wrapped beam and column now frame a buffet island, while extensive light maple cabinetry and Giallo Veneziano granite countertops add warmth and elegance. A separate cooking island with a gas cooktop, range hood, wine rack, and informal dining area anchors the space, complemented by prairie-style windows and French doors that replaced the original aluminum and vinyl. The result is a bright, functional kitchen that offers ample storage, natural light, and a welcoming ambiance—truly the heart of the home.
